How the Test Works

  • The Setup: You wear a lightweight, clinical-grade mask connected to a portable metabolic analyzer that captures every breath.
  • Resting Test: You sit or lie quietly for several minutes while the analyzer measures your Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) and how well your body burns fat versus carbohydrates at baseline.
  • Active Test: You perform a graded exercise test (usually on a treadmill, stationary bike, or rowing machine). The intensity gradually increases until you reach your exertion limit.
